Find your perfect online course idea in under an hour

Today's webinar, "Find your perfect online course idea in under an hour," was a game-changer. It challenged the common approach of trying to create a course that addresses everything, instead emphasizing the power of laser focus. The key takeaway? Solve one tiny problem exceptionally well for a very specific target audience. But also

My target audience: Busy women navigating chronic illness

My current focus is on helping busy women struggling with chronic illnesses (autoimmune, diabetes, long-haul COVID, post-vaccine symptoms) to regain their energy and thrive. My coaching often revolves around sustainable lifestyle changes without relying solely on medication. This is a broad area, however, and the webinar emphasized the importance of narrowing that focus significantly.

From overwhelm to clarity: The power of one tiny problem

Initially, my course ideas were sprawling: daily organisation, stress management, relaxation techniques (breathing exercises), detoxing, even finding brand colours! It was a recipe for overwhelm, both for me as the course creator and for potential students. The webinar powerfully illustrated the importance of selecting a single, very specific problem to solve.

Identifying the perfect niche: A step-by-step approach

To find the perfect niche, consider these points from today’s webinar:

  1. Start with your target audience: I've identified busy women with chronic illnesses. This is a start, but it needs refining.
  2. Identify their biggest pain points: What's the one thing causing them the most frustration and impacting their lives the most? Do they struggle with constant fatigue? Intolerable pain? Overwhelming brain fog?
  3. Choose one tiny problem: Instead of addressing all aspects of chronic illness management, pick one specific problem to tackle. For example, let's focus on a common cold. Perhaps my course could help women with chronic illness learn to recover quickly and efficiently from common colds which can cause significant problems for their health.
  4. Create a targeted solution: Develop a course that provides a simple, effective solution to that one problem.

The 5-step process to creating a 4-week course

The webinar outlined a streamlined process for developing a 4-week course based on a clearly defined problem:

  1. Verify your online course idea (even with an imperfect idea): Don't get stuck in analysis paralysis. Start with what you think might work, even if it's not perfectly formed.
  2. Don't jump to creation: Before building your course, validate your idea. Avoid wasted time and effort by verifying market demand first.
  3. Define your ideal client and find them online: Clearly define your ideal student. Where do they hang out online? Which forums, communities, or social media platforms do they frequent?
  4. Survey and interview your ideal client: Reach out to your ideal clients. Use surveys or interviews to understand their pain points, desires, and what would constitute a valuable solution.
  5. Find the perfect course idea in the answers: Analyse the data from your surveys and interviews. The answers will reveal the perfect course topic – the one tiny problem your ideal client desperately needs solved.

🩷 My "Aha!" moment: Laser focus on a single, urgent need

Last year, I ran the “Toss the Toxins” course, which was a fantastic learning experience and a great introduction for many women to the world of holistic health. But this year, I’m taking everything I’ve learned and applying a much more focused approach.

My big insight? Less is more. Instead of spreading myself thin with multiple topics, I’m channeling my energy into launching a brand new twelve-week program in January: The Real Root Cause Reset (Happy Gut Healthy You). This program is all about addressing inflammation and gut health at the root, offering a clear, step-by-step journey for busy women dealing with chronic illness.

Doors are still open for the January group. So if you're curious or want more details, just send me an email with the subject: Broccoli — click here and I’ll send you all the details. πŸ₯¦

Next steps: Crafting a laser-focused course

My plan now is to nail down that one urgent problem, connect with my ideal clients, and build a four-week course that genuinely makes a difference.
I’m excited to help more women move from surviving to truly thriving.
