When the person you love is slipping away, how do you hold onto yourself?

You are not imagining it...

(A message for those pouring their hearts out, only to feel empty).

Let's be honest. Being a caregiver is a role you never truly signed up for, but you're giving it your all. Does this feel familiar?

  • You're running on empty, juggling appointments, medications, and emotional turmoil.
That feeling of burnout isn't just a risk; it's your daily reality.
  • Communication feels like a constant guessing game.
You're trying to connect, but the person you knew is becoming harder to reach, leaving you feeling frustrated and heartbroken.
  • Challenging behaviours can turn your home into a high-stress zone.
And you're left feeling helpless and ill-equipped to handle them with confidence and calm.
  • You see the statistics...
    – that nearly half of caregivers suffer from anxiety or depression – and a quiet voice inside whispers, "That's becoming me." 34% of caregivers worry about money, 78% of caregivers worry about their own health!
  • You're neglecting your own health, your own needs, your own life.
    There’s simply no time...

If you’re nodding along, please know this: You are not alone, and it doesn't have to be this hard.

You're not crazy. You're not "just stressed out." And you are absolutely. not. alone. In fact, you're one of the brave ones. One of the women refusing to accept "just getting by" as their new normal.

That's why you're here.

When compassion falls short...
(And traditional advice leaves you feeling even more alone)

I'm Dr. Naomi, and my journey into deeply understanding dementia care didn't start just in medical school.

It started in my childhood home, watching my two grandmothers grapple with Alzheimer's. And now, my own father-in-law is navigating this complex disease, recently finding a home in a care facility. I've seen firsthand the relentless demands, the silent struggles, and the profound impact this disease has on both the individual and their devoted caregivers.

Every. Single. Day.

I've watched how the system often fails the people who need it most. Caregivers would come to me, exhausted, their stories heartbreakingly familiar:

  • The daughter battling guilt for not being "enough" because she couldn't manage her mother's escalating agitation.
  • The husband sacrificing his own health, believing it was his sole duty to manage every aspect of his wife's declining state.
  • The professional caregiver struggling to connect when words failed, feeling utterly drained.

No matter who they were or what they felt, the answers were often the same tired script:

"Just try to cope." "Get more rest." "Here's a referral for a support group."

And every time I saw caregivers trying to patch over deep wounds with superficial advice, knowing very well it wouldn't fix the root cause, something inside me screamed: "This is BS. There has to be a better way to truly support them."

So I made a decision that changed everything: Not to abandon medicine, but to completely reinvent how I empowered those touched by dementia.

What followed wasn't easy. Years of additional training, countless sleepless nights diving into:

  • The actual science of dementia behavior (not just managing symptoms).
  • Cutting-edge communication strategies for connection beyond words.
  • The profound impact of caregiver well-being – and concrete ways to protect it.

Today? I bridge the gap between medical knowledge and the heartbreaking reality of daily dementia care. Not by dismissing traditional wisdom, but by digging deeper than most courses ever bother to go.

Here's the kicker most physicians won't tell you (because they're not trained for it): Your well-being isn't secondary to caregiving. It's the foundation.

The uncomfortable truth

(Brace yourself, because this might piss you off)

Those "random" struggles that make you feel like you're losing your mind? They're about as random as a carefully planned heist.

  • That feeling of emptiness isn't because you're "not strong enough."
  • Those communication breakdowns aren't "just part of the disease."
  • That constant overwhelm isn't because you're "too sensitive."
  • Your own declining health isn't "just what caregivers go through."

They're all connected. And the connection point? Your unspoken needs, the gaps in your knowledge, and the lack of truly effective strategies that nobody taught you.
